Choose Joy is a posthumous Thesis Exhibition in honor of Christy Lorio, an MFA candidate in Fine Arts at the University of New Orleans.
This very special exhibition memorializes the work and impact that MFA student Christy Lorio had during her time here at UNO and The School of the Arts.
We hope you will join us in celebrating her as we present the thesis show she never had the opportunity to have. Christy was a remarkable person, full of love and enthusiasm for life and art. She was an excellent graduate student and grad assistant for the photography students in the fine arts department at UNO. She excelled at anything she put her mind to, and her pursuit of photography and becoming an artist was no different. The New Orleans art community, and the photography community at large, lost a talented individual.
The Department of Fine Arts and Creative Writing Workshop at UNO have collaborated to create a scholarship that provides funding to graduate students to support them in the last stages of their degree completion. If you would like to know more about the fund please visit the website.
The exhibition will be on display from February 17th through March 3rd.
With an opening reception on Saturday, February 17th, from 6:00 - 9:00 pm.
The exhibition is free and open to the public.
Gallery hours are Saturdays and Sundays, 12:00 - 5:00 pm.
