We are extremely pleased to announce that the UNO-St. Claude Gallery will host “Miraculous Tales of Nonfiction,” a solo exhibition featuring University of New Orleans Master of Fine Arts alumna Jessica Goldfinch. The artist investigates “mortality issues through the use of Freudian concepts of the uncanny” in compositions that reference memento mori, Dutch still life, and religious imagery.  With various iconography and seriousness tempered with humor and irony, the artworks address, in the artist’s words, the “paradox of mortality,” that “in order to have life, you must have death,” and result in “unexpected images of human frailty.”

The gallery, located at 2429 St. Claude Ave., will hold an opening reception on Saturday, September 12, from 6-9 p.m. Exhibit dates are September 12 to October 6, 2015. Regular gallery hours are Sat-Sun, from 12-5 p.m. Please direct any inquiries to Kathy Rodriguez at klrodri2@uno.edu, or call the gallery during open hours at 504.948.6939
