The UNO St. Claude Gallery is excited to announce the opening of the first MFA thesis show of the season: Pictured Things with works by Matthew John Bivalacqua

February 8th, 2019 - March 2nd, 2019.

Opening reception February 8th from 6-9 p.m.

Regarding his his work, Bivalacqua states:

“I am attracted to subject matter based on formal, historical, and sentimental references.  Altering an image and then rendering it in pastel or paint, affords me a way to emphasize and express the aspects of the subjects that I find engaging.  I combine projections and/or digital photographs, using traditional painting or drawing mediums to acquire varied, tactile surfaces that visually reference subjective, emotional responses to the selected subject matter. These objects and their environments are manipulations, initially chosen for their visual or symbolic relationship to events in my personal experience.”

Regular gallery hours are 12-5 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays, through

he run of the exhibition. Please contact Kathy Rodriguez at klrodri2@uno.edu with questions, or call the gallery at 504.948.6939 during open hours.

U.N.O. Saint Claude Gallery will be closed on the weekends of Dec 22nd & 23rd and  Dec 29th & 30th.
